“In imagination she sailed over storied seas that wash the distant shining shores of faëry lands forlorn, where lost Atlantis and Elysium lie, with the evening star for pilot, to the land of Heart’s Desire. And she was richer in those dreams than in realities; for things seen pass away, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of the Island
Things Unseen

Beautiful painting! I had no idea. And… as a Canadian I grew up reading Anne (with an “e”) of Green Gables and the sequels. This quote and this image are so great. xo

Thank you Deb. 🙂 Glad you liked it. After I found the quote, I spent the rest of my time trying to make a proper painting of what I saw. The Classics can still capture our imagination. They are so rich in imagery.

Beautiful Heinz! 🙂
I see the ship sailing in a sea of dreams… (That’s art, right? (in the eye of the beholder!!) 🙂

Thank You P.!!! You captured my intent exactly. 🙂 I wanted this to be seen with whatever the reader could make of it. The more I look at it the more things I see – it tells my own story to me over time.

Yes! But, that is your story you see. So it is the beauty in you. Just picture yourself in the little ship as it sails the dreamscape to your own Heart’s Desire. There is lots of wine and chocolate on board until you arrive at your destination. 🙂

I”ll take them only in case the wine finishes… I discovered years ago that drinking some alcohol helps “to go with the flow” :D.
I wrote a post about it some time ago 🙂

Wine is the blood of life and connects us all in the moment with it’s flow 🙂 I am almost certain wine was the first drink of civilization. It probably brought music, love, dance, and poetry after the first batch was done.

🙂 I’m sure of that too… And if I had had a pen in my hand a couple of weeks ago, I would have also written a poem… that was the only thing missing… All the rest is on the video 😀

YouTube and a handy Moleskine notebook is the journal of the ages. No more missed opportunity for recording one’s moments of grandeur 🙂

I’m not sure it’s authentic, I paid 0.79 for it 🙂 But I saw it and I couldn’t resist getting it.

A very lovely watercolor, Heinz. I love when watercolors mostly hint at things, yet from a distance more of the picture can be seen. Huh? Did i just say something profound? Surely not. 😈
The passage you chose to go with it is perfect. A brief post that says so very much.
Huge hugs to you and yours.

Thank you SO much Teagan! Yes, you are profound 🙂 I’m glad you liked it. I did this one with a lot of layering to give it a dreamscape look. When it was done, I couldn’t be sure if the ship was sailing in Antarctica or in the clouds. It just felt right for the subject.
