New week and new opportunities!

Fightmsdaily

It is Monday morning again! Before I was laid off and I was working a full-time job, I would often dread Monday morning. It proves the weekend ended and we have to work all week, again. Now that I am not working, I miss that feeling. It has not been fun to not work because I have worked for as long as I can remember. It is not that I have not been looking and applying for jobs, but none have worked out yet. I do have two phone interviews today, so hopefully one of them will actually provide me with good news. After the past month, I could use some good news!

Since I have not been working, I have not been doing my typical posts. Today, I am trying to make some changes. The truth is, life is hard and some days are so difficult it is painful…

End of weekend thoughts

Fightmsdaily

I hope you had a nice weekend and you are staying safe. I have been thinking a lot over this last week and there have been many times when I felt discouraged and even useless. I do know this is not a good way to think, so I am trying to improve my thoughts, not myself. This quote has shown me hope and how to be patient with myself and my job search. I know as long as I do not stop trying, I am not failing!

The truth is, I am proud of the person I am and know that I do deserve to be treated with respect because that is the way I treat everyone else. The things I know about myself and I am most proud of is, I am determined, strong, kind, compassionate, empathic, and most of all resilient! This may have been a last minute…

Two Days of Head Pain

Fightmsdaily

For many years now, one of the most consistent parts of my life has been the pain issues. Living with pain 24/7 is not easy but most pain I can deal with. I suppose I have learned how to continue living my life, despite the pain because I have realized it was not going anywhere. Over the years, there have been several frustrating things I have encountered when I would say, “If you can’t beat them, join them.” There are no ways to join the pain, so acceptance is the next best thing to do.

Regardless of how I have learned to live with pain, there is one type I am unable to tolerate. Everyone handles pain differently, but for me, head pain is the most unbearable. Unfortunately, headaches are something I have endured long before I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. One of my first memories of having a…

Ways to travel safely!

Fightmsdaily

It had been several years since we have been able to do anything, besides be imprisoned in our house because of COVID. Recently, we were able to get out of our house and the state we live in to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Of course, he loves doing something extremely cold, and I am not that good at, snowboarding. Even though it was cold and a LONG drive, it was fantastic to have a change of scenery and freedom from house arrest (not literally, it is just because of COVID)!

Now one small problem is, what do you do when there is a long drive ahead of you and you despise driving? I never expect my husband to do all the driving on a long drive and will always offer to do some of the driving. Granted, he knows my distaste for driving because I have never hidden that from…

Life’s Concerns

It is no secret that we have not been able to do anything in several years besides be imprisoned in our home because of COVID. Recently, we were able to get out of our house and the states we live in to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Of course, he loves doing something extremely cold, and I am not that good at, snowboarding. Even though it was bitterly cold and a long drive, it was fabulous to have a change in scenery and freedom from our home.

Now, one small problem is, what do you do when there is a long drive ahead and you despise driving? I never expect my husband to do all the driving a long drive and will always offer to do some of the driving. My husband is aware of my distaste for driving and tries to not have me drive much. Knowing who is & isn’t a true friend

Fightmsdaily

To all my amazing longtime followers and those of you visiting for the first time, thank you for reading this slightly different from my other posts. The post you are about to read was built from too much frustration and disappointments I have encountered within the last year or so. Of course, I do not enjoy being negative and writing about negativity, but I do think honesty is better than pretending everything is perfect and nothing bothers me.

I highly doubt I am the first person, the only one to see this, and certainly not the last. It seems anytime something negative enough to completely flip our life upside down and inside out occurs, those we may consider a “friend” show compassion and behaves as though they care about us, and what we are enduring. However, this is always short-lived and then they return to focusing on their #1, themselves…

What our strengths do for us daily

Fightmsdaily

If there is one thing I have learned in life, especially during the last few years it is we are born with internal strength. There are times we are fighting with a strength we did not realize we had, and it shows itself when needed the most.

Times we lose a loved one that we held dear to our hearts is painful. No matter how much we want to aid in their struggles, we are always left helpless. In 2013, I lost my grandfather who I idolized. Due to his graciousness and selflessness, I was unable to see him in his final days. I understand he did not want me to see him in the ways he was, as he was losing his fight with cancer. All these years later it is still painful, but I can carry his strength and will to fight in my heart.

Of course, it…

How to overcome a negative mindset

Fightmsdaily

Since December 9, 2021, when I was laid off from my job, my mind has been on a continuous and endless downward spiral with negativity. It has been an incredibly frustrating and discouraging month. Logically, I do understand that there was nothing I did wrong to deserve the layoff, but that is not making this situation any easier.  Considering I have always tried finding the positive in all situations in life, it is difficult for me to process all the negative emotions I have been experiencing.

One month of struggling to not allow the negative and disappointing thoughts circling in my mind has been exhausting. Too often I feel as though I am drowning in the fierce rapids that continue pulling me down. I was good at my job and the clients enjoyed working with me and I enjoyed them as well. I keep reminding myself that my job did…

Bad News Week

Fightmsdaily

I hope y’all have had a wonderful week and you are looking forward to the weekend. I managed to fall behind with my blog and still have a few comments to respond to. The past few days I have been consumed with either a migraine or back pain that was so awful I could hardly do anything. Wednesday morning, my back pain was in a different location than normal. On a typical day, it is my mid to lower back that is in pain, but Wednesday morning it was only in my lower back and it took me at least fifteen minutes to pull myself from the bed. This pain was like nothing I have experienced before and had me mildly concerned. I did not lift anything in the previous days, so it did not make sense and I detest when things do not make sense.

I started having another…

Difference between personality traits

Fightmsdaily

When we can recognize the different types of traits one can have, we can understand those around us better. Through this post, I am going to explain the difference between Introversion, Empathy, and Highly Sensitive People. I know not everyone is interested in this kind of information, but I am incredibly fascinated and hope you will be as well. Once you have read about these traits, you might find you can relate to one of two of them and I would love to know which resonates with you the most.

Over the years the term Introvert has been misunderstood. About 30-50% of the population are introverts. Many believe when someone is shy or antisocial, this means they are an introvert, but this is not always accurate. The truth is many introverts are social and enjoy spending their time with a few close friends. With this understanding, it is important to…

Tips for searching for remote work

There are things I did not think were possible and I never thought I would think or say. COVID has created numerous hardships but also brought on some positive outcomes, such as the opportunities to work from home. Obviously, there are some types of work that are impossible to do from home, but many are easy to do from home.

Searching for a job can be extremely frustrating. Even though many employers have a new understanding and realize remote/work from home is a fantastic option, it is still a challenge. Considering I am actively trying to find a work from home/remote job, I want to share some information about why I want a work from home/remote position, the pros and cons about remote/work from home jobs, and ways to be aware of scams. New Year with BIG Changes

Fightmsdaily

~Welcome 2022~

Happy New Year y’all! This post is a little later than I had planned for, but I guess better late than never. I hope you had a great and safe New Year’s Eve. I stayed at home and watched the ball drop with my husband and three cats. Nothing exciting, but I do not enjoy large crowds because they make me extremely uncomfortable.

Most of us see the start of a new year as the “magical” time to make changes and transform into an entirely new person. It is something instilled in our mind and mostly due to social standards or views. Changes or improvements do not need to only happen once a year or at any specific time. This is something that we can decide to do or not do. Typically, the motivation we felt when we made our New Year’s resolution wears off fast…

Curveballs keep coming

Fightmsdaily

In life the only thing that is consistent and unavoidable is challenges. No matter what we do and how much we try to do our best, life will always throw curveballs our way. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to duck, or miss being hit hard with the ball. All we can do is roll with the punches and adapt to the various obstacles we face. Of course, this is not easy to do, no matter how much practice we have endured.

The month of December has been extremely challenging. At the beginning of the month, I had a decent job that allowed me to work from the safety and comfort of my home. Surprisingly, but not shocking my company did a mass layoff two weeks before Christmas. Honestly, I was only shocked because of the timing. Although, logically with an employer we are only their worker bees and not a…

My Open Letter to 2021

Fightmsdaily

Dear 2021~

I wish I could say that I am sorry we will be parting in a few days, but I cannot do that and mean it. The truth is, it is not just you because there have been a few problematic years. It began at the beginning of 2020 when the pandemic invaded the world. I do realize it was not just the United States that experienced this, but the states certainly did not handle it in the best way for the country. I am not a politician, but if the Commander in Chief of the most powerful country in the world took it seriously, there would not have been such a massive amount of loss.

2021 did not begin most atrociously, but it certainly did not end well. We still endured many issues with COVID because many people refused to get a vaccine to prevent the spread. This…

Last Monday in 2021

Fightmsdaily

Today is the last Monday left in 2021. Can you believe it is almost 2022? It surely has been a long and extremely challenging couple of years. There have been a limited number of improvements and or changes, so I am hesitant to be overly hopeful that 2022 is going to be much different than the past few years. If you think about just the last year alone and think about everything that has happened. Yes, there have been some good moments and we need to be thankful for our life. Not to be negative, but does the good and bad experiences in the past year balance each other?

Of course, the issues with COVID are slightly better, safer, but could still be much better. The positive thing is, there has been a decrease in new cases and fewer deaths. There are still breakthrough cases and even though they are…

December 21st already

Fightmsdaily

It is already December 21st, the Winter Solstice and Christmas is only a few days away. There are several reasons it does not feel like Christmas to me. One reason might sound silly, but I grew up in the north where it was always a white Christmas. Even though I have been in the south for over twenty years, and it rarely snows, I still miss snow blanketing the ground on Christmas day. In a way it is good it does not snow in the southern state I am in because the smallest amount paralyzes the city and has people bombarding the stores for canned goods and leaving the shelves empty.

Another reason it does not feel like Christmas is that I am unemployed. This is not because of anything I did wrong, but due to my company thinking it was a great idea to lay off nearly…

How to have a productive conversation

Most of us have either heard about or read John Gray’s book “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus”. Of course, the author was not being literal with the title, but using it as a metaphor. Men and women have several similarities, but also have numerous differences. I do think if we all behaved and thought the same, the world would be an incredibly tedious and dull existence.

The ways men and women communicate with one another, family, friends, co-workers, and anyone else they meet are distinct from each other. The unique way our minds are wired typically makes women want to talk and men want to act. Understanding the ideal and most effective way to communicate with the different sexes, will help create a healthier relationship.

Originally, I planned to only do one post about this interesting topic, but now I decided it would be better to do in two parts. There is too much information for one post and separating the posts will make each post shorter and more interesting or at least that is what I hope for.

~Overcoming challenging obstacles~

Fightmsdaily

Many things that happen in life were not planned and were completely unexpected. When these unplanned situations occur, they can turn our lives upside down and inside out. What do you do to pull yourself together and continue moving forward? Do you take a break and rebuild what feels like a collapse of your life? Do you surrender to the struggles, curl up in a ball, and wait for the storm to pass? Do you keep fighting with the strength you have internally and continue living your life?

As y’all already know, I was laid off from my job last week. Handling a layoff at Christmas

Fightmsdaily

It is extremely unfortunate, but life tends to be accompanied by various challenges. Everything we go through in our life may seem life-altering and impossible to overcome at the time of the situation. It is critical to try seeing each experience in a logical mindset. If we attempt to process and analyze every challenge at the same time, it can become overwhelming. To avoid becoming overloaded with devastation, take your time to process what you have endured before reacting.

There will never be a good time to encounter any type of challenge. For instance, this past Thursday the mortgage company I was working for did a mass layoff. Although this was something I was expecting to happen, it was still traumatic news. Regrettably, I was one of many included in the layoffs.

Of course, there is never a good time to be laid off from a job, but Christmas time…

How to stop being your own worst critic

Something we have all experienced in life is criticism. This can be constructive criticism that we can use as a growth opportunity. Of course, constructive criticism should be given in a friendly manner and with good intentions. Even though constructive criticism will not normally be positive, it should be focused on helping others improve and not tearing another person down.

Unlike constructive criticism, there is destructive criticism. People may attempt to disguise destructive criticism as constructive, but it is only negative comments. This type of criticism is intended to be the following, to be a personal attack, cause harm to the other person’s self-esteem, done in public with demeaning comments, or be hypercritical or needlessly finicky and impossible to please. It is important to know if you ever experience this, you do not have to endure the abuse. Shut the person down immediately or if it happens at work report…

What is resilience and why is it important?

Fightmsdaily

Resilience comes in various ways that we might not understand. Unfortunately, there have been many times in life, previously or recently, we have endured challenging times that require resilience we did not realize we have. You might not have been anywhere near New York City when the tragic events of September 11, 2001, occurred but it was a devastation that was felt around the world. Some survivors were on the ground dealing with the rubbles and some that were possibly in the building or nearby buildings seeing what took place. Even after withstanding the deadly tragedies of this day, those that faced them have managed to find joy through the darkness of their losses.

Resilience is the ability to recover from difficulties quickly. There are four types of resilience we have which include physically, mentally/psychologically, emotionally, and socially. All of these are demanding and not necessarily skills that we are…

~How to handle holiday financial stress~

Slowly we are getting much closer to being able to celebrate and enjoy the holidays, as we did before the pandemic. In the United States, where I live 59.6 of the population have been fully vaccinated. I know many that have reservations of the vaccine, but how many people have died from the vaccine compared to those that died due to the virus? Maybe there have been some that died after getting the vaccine, but would they have died regardless of the vaccine?

Dealing with being let down

Then as you were getting yourself ready, your friend calls to back out of your plans because of an unexpected issue. Of course, you were understanding because it was out of their control, but that does not mean you were not disappointed.

As with the scenario when a friend backs out of plans last minute, sometimes things happen, and people get sick. What happens when you worked endlessly on a project at work and you were proud of your accomplishment, but then a co-worker steps in and takes credit for your hard work. In a situation like this, you might feel anger, frustration, and or betrayed.

Through the rest of this post, I am going to explain what exactly motivation means, reasons it is important in our life, and ways to not only get motivated but also to stay motivated.

Motivation is the determination we feel to accomplish goals and or needs. This is something we experienced that is strongly influenced by several internal factors that include

*Understanding how much you want your goal and how much the goals mean to you.

*Consider what your expectations are regarding your goal.

One of many reasons motivation is important to maintain in our life is because it offers us goals to work…

Challenges with Multiple Sclerosis

I think y’all already know that I have had Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years and for the most part I am still going strong. Honestly, some days are worse than others and most issues are triggered by either the weather or stress. I do not like having a pity party but wanted to quickly explain what I think are some of the most challenging aspects that come with this illness. Thankfully, over the years I have been able to get a much clearer understanding of what MS is and what it can do to a person. Crazy as this might sound, this has been good because when I was diagnosed, I was very ignorant to this illness and had an immature mind, but I was young and that is my excuse for my childlike thought process.

Of course, I do know it could always be worse and I am…

How you can stay comfortable during colder months

Fightmsdaily

Multiple Sclerosis is a unique and frustrating illness to live with. When you add in the effects different temperatures can create, Multiple Sclerosis can become three times as frustrating. Each season seems to be followed by different challenges. Of course, the heat acts like kryptonite for Multiple Sclerosis and can cause symptoms to worsen. Unfortunately, extreme heat can also create new symptoms to be exposed. When someone with MS is exposed to heat, they may experience fatigue, numbness, blurred vision, tremors, confusion, weakness, and balance issues.

When the seasons change from hot to cold, those with MS are forced to battle with other issues. Cold weather causes people with or without MS to become tense. The increased tension of the muscles can cause increased spasms, muscles feeling tighter, and difficulties moving limbs.

I have lived with Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years, and I live in an area that seems…

Motivational Monday

Fightmsdaily

Welcoming Monday back is not an easy thing to do, especially when the weekend went by fast and you might have not felt well. It is exceptionally difficult for me beginning the week because as I already said in my last post I felt awful all weekend because of getting the 3rd COVID vaccine, which I still do not regret getting. The truth is sometimes in life we must do things that are not enjoyable, but do them for good reasons. Our lives are full of choices we have to make and we should make these choices to the best of our abilities and try to never live with any kind of regrets.

I am sure none of us are completely ready for a new week, but that choice is completely out of our control. However, what is within our control is the way we move forward with the week…

Third Vaccine Successful

Fightmsdaily

I have already made it well-known how upsetting I have found the COVID-19 virus and those that are refusing to get the vaccine that is free. My husband and I both got the first two vaccines as soon as we were able, which was at the beginning of the year. On Friday after work, we both got the third vaccine/booster. After the first two vaccines, the only side effect that was felt was fatigue. Of course, I received the 2nd vaccine shortly after we lost our cat Chloe and that could have been where some of the fatigue was coming from, or it could have been the vaccine.

I am not sharing the following information to deter anyone from getting the vaccine but am going to share my experience. I felt fine on Friday evening and only had a little soreness on the arm where the injection was given…

Inspirational Wednesday

Fightmsdaily

It is no fun to only view today as Wednesday! It is better to view today as making it to the halfway part of the week, which means we are much closer to the weekend we all look forward to! How has your week been so far? I think y’all know that my week did not start all that great, but I also think dwelling on the negative does not help anyone. Everything unpleasant on Monday and Tuesday cannot define how my week will stay.

I have decided to let go of most of the issues I was upset about early in the week. However, I am still terribly upset and frustrated about how awful the country I was born and raised in has allowed a deadly virus to continue to remain. The vaccine and masks are helping to end the spread and in turn not enable new variants. The…

Tranquil Tuesday

Fightmsdaily

The good news is, we made it through Monday! How was your Monday? I will always be open and honest with y’all, so with that said yesterday was not one of those days I want to live through again. It started off waking up about 10 minutes before my alarm was going to go off, but not wanting to get up yet I was able to fall back to sleep, only to be awoken by the annoying and shrilling sound of the alarm. I would almost say it would have been better if I just stayed awake when I woke up before the alarm. I cannot stand the sound of an alarm clock and the sound of a microwave fills me with the same level of aggravation.

After the alarm annoyance, my workday did not get much better. It was busy and I do like it best like that, but…

Motivational Monday with a Twist!

Fightmsdaily

Happy Monday y’all! I hope you were able to have a relaxing and safe weekend. My weekend was decent, and a few things occurred the needed to. This will make more sense later in this post. I normally try to only share a motivational quote to start the week with a good mindset, which I am going to still do however, there are a few other things I would like to share with you.

In a previous post, I mentioned that I allow things to bottle up inside because I do not want to cause anyone else to feel overwhelmed and or upset, and I do not enjoy conflict. Well over the weekend through many tears I finally shared how I was feeling about a few things with another person. I think everything I was bottling up deep in my mind and heart just overflowed and I could not keep…

Let It Go Friday

Fightmsdaily

I can finally say, happy Friday y’all! How was your week? I hope you had a great week and you are looking forward to the weekend ahead of us. I do not think I could ever explain how glad I am this week is over. It has been a crazy and busy week, both at work and at home. Our poor cat was sick last weekend but was able to see his doctor on Monday. I knew he had another infection and thankfully the antibiotic he received has helped him to recover. He has been on medication for his asthma for years, but we are going to reduce the steroid because that could be the reason he continues getting sick. I think y’all know that I prefer my workdays to be busy, but with everything else going on in life, I really need a break!

Friday is always the end…

Steps to Forgiveness

Fightmsdaily

Forgiveness is not always the easiest thing to accomplish. You might feel as though you will never get over the pain someone else has caused with their wrongdoings. Even once the initial and immediate anger lessens, you may dwell on the betrayal you felt, instead of allowing it to fade away and become a distant bad memory.

The challenges that accompany forgiveness are in part because it is not well understood. Many think to forgive someone means you forget what took place or say the pain inflicted was not too bad and not a big deal or you can resume the relationship you once had immediately. None of this is completely true about forgiveness. It is more about letting go of your anger, hurt, and the need to seek revenge.

It is important to understand when we forgive another person for their hurtful, disappointments, deceitfulness, or any other negative act…

Motivational Monday

Fightmsdaily

Happy Monday y’all! I hope you had a nice weekend and you are ready to start a new week. It seems like the weekends go by so fast and my weekend was a little stressful. Our poor older cat is sick again and he has many expressions so it is easy to know when he is not feeling well. It was hard for me because I was not able to do anything to help him feel better, but I did what I could offer him is comfort and love. I am confident he has the same type of infection he did a couple of months ago and he needs an antibiotic. I left two voicemails and one email for his doctor’s office, but will be calling them again right when they open. I am not a doctor, but I do think because he has been on a steroid for many…

Chronic Pain & Sleep

Fightmsdaily

Chronic pain can be challenging to live with, especially when relief from the pain is rare. Pain can make falling asleep and staying asleep feel almost impossible. Unfortunately, the vicious cycle of pain and lack of good quality sleep can cause an individual’s overall health and wellbeing to worsen.

There are numerous causes of chronic pain, but there are also many causes for increased pain at night. Of course, some causes for pain are well known, but not all the causes are as well known.
