~Challenges, Memories & Reflection~

Fightmsdaily

Happy Tuesday y’all! The good news is, we have one day down and only four to go before the weekend is back! With how hectic and chaotic life can get, it can become easy to get overwhelmed and forget the good things life has to offer. I want to remind you that no matter what challenges we might face each week or maybe daily, it is better to view those challenges as an opportunity for growth. Of course, I believe strongly that every opportunity in life makes us stronger and wiser. Everyone around the world is indeed different, but we all need to think about what helps us process the challenges we have faced and what we learned from those challenges.

Memories can sometimes flood our minds, but do we always remember everything exactly the way they happened? Yes, there are some memories I would much rather forget, but then…

We are starting another week and another month again. I cannot believe it is already August. I mean where has this year gone? I know we are still dealing with stress from COVID, but it seems to be getting worse. The newest variant is Delta, and it is even more contagious, and fatal, but still so many are still refusing the FREE vaccine and or wear masks. I suppose people are just never going to make sense to me. I can remember how much I wanted the vaccine for my safety and to keep those around me safe. If it had not been for my husband, I would have had to wait months instead of when I got the vaccine in February. Currently, there are many vaccines available, and no one must wait, but there is resistance for reasons I will NEVER understand.

Instead of dwelling on the vaccine and…

Boost your immune system

Fightmsdaily

During the past year and a half, eighteen long months we have learned many valuable lessons about the world and those living in it. From coast to coast, throughout every country people have endured the stress, fear, and anxiety from a wildly contagious and deadly virus. Some of the most prominent issues with COVID-19 are the misinformation that has been shared in the news and social media, but also those that are refusing to get vaccinated and or wear a mask. Too many people have politized this virus, which should NEVER have been a political issue because it is science-based. This virus has already killed millions of innocent people worldwide and has not stopped. Throughout this post, I am going to share important information on the complications from COVID and ways we can strengthen our immune system to defend against illnesses and viruses.

End of Long Week

Fightmsdaily

Happy Friday y’all! I do not know about you, but this has been a very long week. Work has been extremely busy, which I do prefer because it makes the days go much faster, but it has been pure chaos. One of my biggest problems is I second guess myself far too much. It seems like 99.9% of the time my first thought on the way something should go is correct. There was a specific situation yesterday that I thought I incorrectly added something and asked one of my co-workers for advice. Unfortunately, when I made a simple comment that I thought they were mistaken because certain fees are supposed to be added into the file this person did not take kindly to my comment. Turns out I was correct and need to learn to go with my first instinct on most things.

Due to the week being so long…

Lab Report Update

Fightmsdaily

Happy Wednesday y’all! We are halfway through the week and much closer to the weekend! As I have already mentioned to y’all, I had my normal bloodwork and antibodies for COVD done on Monday. The normal bloodwork was as I expected because nothing typically changes with that. With the medication I am on for the MS, my white blood cell count is supposed to be low, which it was. The only thing I am not completely sure of is the absolute lymphocyte count. According to the lab report, this count was extremely low, but I am not sure if it is just low because it is supposed to be or if it is unusually low. I am hoping my neurologist will be able to provide me a little further clarification regarding this part of the results report.

The other part of the bloodwork was for the COVID antibodies test, which…

~One Day Down, Four To Go~

How has your week been so far? I mean, I know it was only one day, but Monday sure was a doozy. There were a few reasons why yesterday was not the best Monday, but it also was not the worse. It was my first day back in my old position at work, which I realized quickly how much I forgot in the two or so weeks I was away from it. The funny thing was, everything came back to me slowly or more like a nightmare. I am just kidding it was no where near as bad as a nightmare, but it was a little unpleasant for the first few hours. I think the biggest part of it was that I missed the team I was with for two weeks before, but more so the supervisor!

Another reason yesterday will NOT be on…

Endless Circle of Change

Fightmsdaily

Life can be a combination of craziness, fascination, and excitement. I think it is the changes that bring these emotions on. Change can be difficult and keep life interesting, but also a little frustrating when they happen too frequently. I think some people thrive on change, while others are apprehensive about any change. It is not necessarily that I dread or avoid change because I do think there is a lot of change needed, especially for those that do not see others as their equal because of irrational reasons. The only time when I dread change is when I am comfortable and happy with the way things are, and it is not causing other distress.

Speaking of change that I dread, two weeks ago, my position changed at work changed. I will be honest when I first heard my position was changing, I was not happy about it because it…

Importance of Relationships

There are numerous aspects of our lives that are crucial for our existence but are often what we neglect. Life can be busy and complicated which can cause us to take things and people for granted. Unfortunately, it takes some people losing what and or who is most important to them to realize what matters the most. If I asked you what or who means the most to you in your life, what would your answer be? Do you ever have to wonder if your partner in the journey of life knows what they mean to you?

Our relationships with our significant others should be valued and cherished. Not only is this special person who we are building our lives with, but they are also our best friend and confidant we go to with every part of our life. There are specific things we owe not only to this person…

Happy Monday y’all! I hope you had a lovely and restful weekend. Of course, I did not do anything too exciting over the weekend, but it also was not restful. One of our sweet kittens decided it was a great idea to wake me up at 5:30 on Sunday morning. I am not going to lie even though she is absolutely adorable and full of love, being woken up by her playing with my hair and jumping on my head was SUPER annoying! I am not sure what even made her think it was a good time to wake up because I never get up that early. The three cats do get treats every morning, but not until between 7:00 and 7:30. I think most people would have just told me to take a nap, but I never take naps because it messes with sleep on a workday.

Defeating Chronic Pain

Fightmsdaily

Pain is not something anyone wants to deal with or finds easy to manage. Of course, there are many that battle with chronic pain due to an illness. It does not mean anyone experiencing pain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year any easier, but they may become used to it. Since my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis 20 plus years ago, my days have been accompanied by pain. At the beginning of my MS journey, my pain was minimal in comparison to what it is now and mainly focuses on my legs. To be honest, the leg pain generated pain significant enough to make standing, let alone walking challenging and agonizing.

There is no denying that the leg pain I endure is a direct result of neuropathic pain due to my MS. Neuropathic pain is typically described as a burning sensation in the affected areas…

Ways our passions can change the world!

The passions we have are what keeps us going, especially after a long day. Our passions provide us with chances to not only be creative but also impact the world or at least the community we are in. When we embrace what our passions are and become dedicated activists and share information with as many people as we can. Of course, this will take a lot of time, but that is how the inner spark for our passions will help keep us trying and never giving up.

Different types of headaches

Fightmsdaily

I think everyone knows that I have lived with Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years now. Of course, this does cause me to experience pain daily, but I have come to expect it and it does not force me to stop living my life. However, something I have experienced since I was a child is headaches. For the most part, none of the pain caused by MS will keep me in bed for hours or days, but head pain whether it is a headache, or migraine will put me in the bed with an ice pack on my headache for at least hours and sometimes even a few days. These are not easy to handle, but it was a lot worse as a little girl because I would get off the school bus and not move from the couch until the following day.

There have been many challenges we have faced during the past few years. All of this takes a lot of courage, perseverance, dedication, determination, and a great amount of internal strength. I completely understand how this can feel overwhelming and we might want to throw our hands up and give up on what we need and want. Sometimes it might feel like the battle within is too demanding, but if we do everything we possibly can and continue fighting we will eventually win the war.

For all of us that are living with a chronic and incurable illness, the obstacles may seem like they are endless and maybe they are. However, if we do not keep pushing through with all we can, we will never know what we are capable of. I have always believed that behind every door we close, something better is waiting around the next corner. We…

There was a point that I almost pulled over to try waiting out the rain, but I really wanted to get home, so I continued driving very slowly, which is not like me.

Summer heat & Multiple Sclerosis

Fightmsdaily

It is one of last days of May and the summer heat is already extreme and dominating the south parts of the United States. For those of us living with Multiple Sclerosis, we all know that heat is one of our biggest enemies. Unfortunately, where I live in the United States, we are already fighting with temperatures in the 90’s, so I can only imagine how hot it will be in the dead of summer, but I am dreading it!

There are a lot of people that live with Multiple Sclerosis that experience temporary worsening of symptoms when the weather is exceedingly hot and or humid. Unfortunately, it only takes a quarter to a half-degree increase in the body’s core temperature for someone’s symptoms to worsen. The elevation in temperatures impairs the ability of a demyelinated nerve to conduct electrical impulses. Simple activities such as sunbathing, exercising, or taking a…

Happy Monday y’all. I hope you are doing well and your weekend was wonderful. I have not done any posts in about two weeks and I am so sorry for that. I mentioned to y’all a few weeks ago that I was dealing with tooth pain and it was just miserable. The dentist put me on an antibiotic which ended up making me feel pretty terrible, but I am doing a little better and just have to wait for the not- so-exciting root canal to be done. I am hoping to get back to normal with blogging this week because April is Stress Awareness Month and I do have some good information regarding stress. Considering I want to get back to my with blogging,

I want to share a motivational quote with y’all to get our week started on the right track. Many days during our lifetime we are forced…

Been Out Of Sorts

Fightmsdaily

I have been trying for several days to write a post, but I have not been able to. I have a few reasons why things have been so challenging, and I will try to explain. One issue is I have not been sleeping well due to awful tooth pain. I know my fear of the dentist is very irrational, but I have never been able to shake this fear in all my years. After several mornings waking up at 3:00 AM in excruciating pain and it takes me a while to fall back to sleep, I finally scheduled an appointment with a dentist. My husband and I are still relatively new to where we are living and I did not know any dentists, heck, I hardly knew of any doctors besides my neurologist, but I reached out to an extremely sweet couple that has lived in the city for years…

Motivational Monday

~Let’s Start This Week With A HUGE Smile~

Happy Monday y’all! I hope you had a nice and safe weekend. My weekend did not go exactly the way I had planned because I did want to complete a post I started about Multiple Sclerosis but honestly did not have the energy needed. I think I might have been a little overly exhausted from the week and did not want to halfway write a post, especially one so meaningful to me. What I will say is, I will finish this post early this week and will not rush through it because I want to provide you with the best information I possibly can. It is amazing how one week can take so much out of us.

I was pretty stressed about a power issue we have in our house. Last week, on Thursday, the power in our basement only stopped working…

Let It Go Friday

Fightmsdaily

~Congratulations! It Is Finally Friday~

Happy Friday y’all! How was your week? I hope you had a great week and you are looking forward to the weekend! I am so happy the weekend is finally here and I have two days of not waking up early and then staring at a computer screen for eight LONG hours! I sometimes think that the computer ends up causing some nasty headaches or maybe it is “some” of the people I have to deal with. You will not be surprised that I do not have any plans for the weekend. I even already did my grocery store delivery, so I do not have to do that. I know I told you the other day that there were a few more posts I wanted to do about Multiple Sclerosis, which I hope to complete this weekend!

Now that the weekend is almost here and…

Beat The Heat

Fightmsdaily

As y’all already know March was Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month. Even though March is almost over, MS for me and everyone else living with this illness will continue to battle with the challenges that come along with it. With that being said, I do want to share a few additional posts to further explain the struggles that Multiple Sclerosis creates.

One thing common with those with Multiple Sclerosis is heat intolerance. Simply taking a hot shower, spending too much time in the sun, or possibly making a hot meal because the stove and oven can make the kitchen extremely hot. The reason people with MS are sensitive to heat and temperature changes is that MS causes nerves to lose their conductive coating, which is referred to as a myelin-sheath.

Heat issues may cause a person with MS to have an escalation of symptoms such as dizziness and/or increased heart rate…

Curiosity Is Exciting

~Ways Curiosity Can Enhance Our Well-Being~

How many times have you heard the saying “Curiosity killed the Cat?” Of course, the levels of uncertainty can be high, but we should hold onto the thoughts of scrutinizing. This is something that could hold many benefits and gratifications. Our curiosity may include an opportunity to reveal great new information, but also taking a journey into the obscure territory. The unknown can create a momentarily feeling of apprehension and discomfort, but the risks may be outweighed by the benefits. Giving in to your curiosity could help you gain a chance to expand your horizons and the fulfillment that comes along with personal growth. Challenging yourself to search for new experiences and different outlooks provides deeper insights about yourself and the world.

What exactly does “curiosity” mean? Curiosity means having a strong desire to know or learn something new. Entering the area…

It takes time to understand what exactly triggers your symptoms and then to discover the best way to avoid them. Just like each person experiences MS differently, each person will have different triggers and ways to combat those triggers. Of course, please remember that I am not a doctor or medical professional, I am just another person living with MS, and have researched the topic. 9 Multiple Sclerosis Facts

Fightmsdaily

In previous posts, I have explained that Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune and neurologist illness. What this means is MS affects the nerves, but also the body’s defenses to fight disease fails and begins to attack the cells. The immune system attacks the body’s myelin when you have MS. Myelin is a protective substance covering the nerves, so when this happens it leaves the nerves unprotected. The nerves being unprotected makes them vulnerable to damage, which causes them to not function as they would if there was healthy myelin. The damaged nerves create a wide range of symptoms that vary in seriousness.

A few additional facts regarding MS to understand are:

1.Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic condition, which means it is a lifelong condition and it does not currently have a cure. It is important to understand that even though there is not a cure, it is not fatal. There…

Whether you are newly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis or you have been living with MS for many years, you already know it is hard enough living with MS. ~Let Us Begin This Week With All Positive Thoughts~

Happy Monday y’all! I hope you had a nice, relaxing, and safe weekend, and you are ready to begin this new week. My weekend was uneventful which is a great way to spend the weekend or at least it is for me. The only bad part of the weekend was I could hardly sleep but 2 hours on Friday night, so Saturday I was exhausted. The crazier thing was, there was no reason for me not to sleep Friday night. Normally, when I have sleepless nights I am worried about something or stressed and I do not think I was, at least not consciously.

As our week begins and the weekend has ended I always feel we might need a little motivation to get us started in the best way possible. I try to share quotes that I enjoy, but do…
